چکیده
Effects of two levels of dietary selenium (se) on reproductive performance and blood Se status of mature gestating and lactating sows were evaluated over one reproductive cycle. Four groups of six Duroc sows were fed basal corn-soybean meal (SBM) or corn-SBM-tankage diets each with or without .1 ppm supplemental Se. The basal diets contained .1 ppm natural Se. Changes from the 28th day of gestation through the 56th day of lactation in whole blood and plasma Se concentrations and in vitro red blood cell (RBC) 75Se uptake indicated greatest demand for Se came immediately after parturition but treatment differences (P<.05) were evident only at the l l 2 t h day of gestation and 28th day of lactation. At the 28th day of lactation, the Se supplemented sows had higher plasma (P<.05) and whole blood (P<.01) Se concentrations than the unsupplemented sows. Reproductive performance was not affected by treatment (P<.05). (

Comparative effects of organic and inorganic selenium on selenium transfer from sows to nursing pigs.
To investigate the effects of supplemental Se on the transfer of Se to nursing pigs when sows are fed diets containing a Se level above the NRC recommendation (0.15 ppm), sows were fed diets containing no supplemental Se or supplemental (0.3 ppm) Se from sodium selenite or Se yeast. A nonSe-fortified corn-soybean meal basal diet with a high endogenous Se content served as the negative control (...

This study was designed to assess how dietary vitamin E (E) and (or) selenium (Se) concentrations affect immune responses of gestating and peripartum sows. Multiparous sows (24), assigned to one of four groups at breeding, were fed ensiled, shelled corn-soybean meal-based diets without supplemental E or Se (-E-Se), with .3 mg of Se/kg (-E+Se), with 60 IU of E/kg (+E-Se), or with both supplement...

The aim of the trial was to determine the efficacy of organic Se from Se-enriched yeast in placental transfer to piglets in the conditions of a Czech pig farm. In group I (n = 8) the sows were fed during gestation and lactation a diet ...

Objective: Walnut (Juglans Regia) is a domestic fruit of Iran. Walnut kernel (WK) has many beneficial constituents such as unsaturated fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamin E. Scientific studies have shown that fatty acids and vitamin E can modulate learning and memory processes. The aim of the present work was to study effects of walnut consumption by mothers during pregnancy and lactation on...
متن کاملDietary medium- or long-chain triglycerides improve body condition of lean-genotype sows and increase suckling pig growth.
In a field trial conducted on a commercial swine farm, lean-genotype sows (n = 485) were fed diets containing 0 or 10% supplemental fat as either medium-chain triglyceride or choice white grease from d 90 of gestation until weaning (15.5 d). Effects on standard sow and litter production traits were examined together with assessment of sow body condition using live ultrasound. Daily feed intake ...
